The Jewelry Maker

Filmmaker Dustin Cohen offers a candid look into Susan Domelsmith’s Brooklyn studio, the sunlit space she uses to create her sustainable jewelry line, Dirty Librarian Chains. Using repurposed materials, Susan constructs her pieces from vintage baubles and chains found within shuttered jewelry factories in Providence, Rhode Island.  “This collection boasts relics of the boom time spanning the 1960’s and 1980’s during which the majority of American jewelry production began to travel overseas.”
This video is the third installment in Dustin’s “Made in Brooklyn” series, which relays the stories of some of Brooklyn’s amazing artisans. His previous videos “The Violin Maker” and “The Watch Maker” are equally as mesmerizing.
