Mary Kate and Ashley have long been impassioned supporters of the factories in New York City’s garment district. As such, they made sure to thank to their manufacturing sources during their well-deserved acceptance speech for the CFDA Womenswear Designers of the Year award.
“I really believe in our being able to create here (in NYC) and utilize the skills that people have here,” Ashley says. “The skill set is here. Our main issue is that some of the machinery is gone, so some knitwear is produced in Italy.
